This is a powerful variation on Jennings's favourite frontal juxtaposition of a historic piece of furniture and some contemporary object, preferably connected to food or flowers, in other words the simultaneous juxtaposition of the organic and inorganic, the transient and the permanent, the present and the past. Collages such as this one are not devoid of humour, here insisted upon by the triangular structure which gives the same (visual) importance to the fragile, breakable vase on the table and to the massive solid ''legs" of the table.
