A VICTORIAN SILVER CYCLING TROPHY PLAQUE,
MARK OF V&S (incuse), BIRMINGHAM, 1889,
Decorated in high relief with a penny farthing race watched by a large crowd set in a circular recess, above it the Royal Armsflanked by shields inscribed "September 1891", with trailing flowers at either side & cornucopia interspersed with ribbons & pendent shield inscribed "SOUTH WEST HAM ROVERS CYCLING CLUB 5 MILES CHALLENGE SHIELD, WON BY G. BOW", mounted on a blue velvet back with easel mount, 9¼ in. long (23.5 cm.) without backing, 12½ in. long (32 cm.) with backing.
