Compare the similarly decorated vase of this form illustrated by Sir Michael Butler et al., Seventeenth-Century Chinese Porcelain from the Butler Family Collection, Virginia, 1990, p. 79, no. 38, where it is noted that the shape is imitating a 16th century Turkish pottery shape, and was "much in demand in Holland".
