A large Wood figure of Avalokiteshvara
Tibet, 18th century
The eleven-headed deity standing on a double-lotus base with principal hands folded in front of the chest, holding a lotus flower, beaded mala, bow and arrow and a bottle, dressed in a long dhoti secured with a jeweled belt, an antelope skin about the torso with the head visible on the chest and a flowing sash around the shoulders, adorned with multiple necklaces, armlets and earrings, each head surmounted by a foliate crown, the uppermost backed by the flaming red hair of Mahakala, with remains of gilding, laquer and polychromy all over
