Raza finds harmony in his use of simple geometry and pure color, translating these uncomplicated forms into elegant illustrations of universal equilibrium.
The owner was enthralled with a larger version of this painting seen in the artist's studio that was at the time sold to Mr. John Paré. That painting was sold in Christie's Dubai auction of 24 May 2006 as lot 69 for $520,000. Raza, in turn, agreed to make a smaller version of Sourya for the current owner who not only purchased the painting but also later bought his house in the South of France.
