James Doohan was fond of saying that Scotty was 99 Doohan and 1 accent. Of course, that one percent helped make Scotty an unforgettable part of Gene Roddenberry's universe. Doohan took great pride in the many young engineers who were inspired to enter the profession because of Montgomery Scott.
