Lot Essay

Accompanied by an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirming the date of manufacture as 1953 and its subsequent sale on November 18th of the same year. The extract further confirms that the watch left the factory with diamond-set indexes.

Production of the famous Calatrava model of the reference 96 was launched in 1932. In 1982 it was replaced by the reference 3796. During this reference's fifty year history very few examples were made in platinum with diamond-set dial.

To the best of our knowledge, the present watch has never before appeared at auction.
