Commissioned by Shaykh'ali Khan whose name is given in gold in the colophon. This must be Shaykh'ali Mirza (b. 1210/1795-6. d. 1263/), the 9th son of Fath'ali Shah, Governor of Malayer and Tuyserkan. He was in charge of a force during the Russian-Persian war, and then among the ten princes who opposed Muhammad Shah and were imprisoned in Ardabil fortress and then in Tabriz where he died (M. Bamdad, Dictionary of National Biography of Iran, 1700-1900, vol. 2, Tehran, 1966, pp. 154-5). His maternal grand father was Shaykh 'Alikhan, the commander of Karim Khan Zand army after whom he was named. He was killed circa 1193/1779.

Muhammad Yar Saliyani is recorded as a scribe who wrote many styles. Only one calligraphic page is recorded, written in many styles, commissioned by Muhammad Hasan Khan Qajar, dated 1242 (AD 1826-7), Mehdi Bayani, ahval va athar-e khosh-nevisan, vol.III, Tehran, 1348, p.861.

According to a note, the Qur'an was given to Nizam al-Saltana by Abu'l-Hasan ibn Sa'id al-Dawla in Adharbayjan in 1323 (AD 1905).The manuscript was in the Qajar Royal Library and was inspected in 1316 (AD1898-99), and given an export licence from Iran dated 1313 sh. (AD1934).
