A Large Japanese imari jar and cover, 17th Century
of baluster form, painted in underglaze blue, iron-red and gilt with alternating panels of peony and kiku sprays, the neck and cover decorated over sized kiku heads, the petal interiors with scrolling gilt motifs and trailing flowers, reserved on a ground of scrolling foliage, the finial modelled as a smiling Hotei with an oversize vase - 27¼in. (69.2cm) high, wood stand.
