The first international female tennis star Suzanne Lenglen is frozen in mid-action as she leaps forward, her legs off the ground and in opposite directions. Her unconventional dress cut just above the calf reveals her legs; her short sleeves bare her arms and the bracelet worn above her left elbow. The sharp diagonal of her outstretched arm points to the blurry shape of a tennis ball. It is May of 1921 in Nice and Lenglen, the multiple Wimbledon champion, is training for her next match.
