See Joan Jones, Minton, One Hundred Years of Design and Production, Shrewsbury, 1993, p. 65 for a similar service inspired by Landseer that was commissioned by Queen Victoria, circa 1865, for use at Balmoral Castle and Sandringham. Landseer's Alexander and Diogenes (1850) is in the collection of the National Gallery in London, England.
