Painter of the city of Paris in the 20th century, Cortès began his career in 1902, when he exhibited for the first time his views of Paris. These night and twilight scenes received enormous international success. He depicted the effects of the weather, the seasons, and especially nightfall in autumn with the effects of rain.

Peintre de la ville de Paris au XXème siècle, Cortès commença sa carrière en 1902, en exposant pour la première fois ses vues de Paris. Celles de nuit ou au crépuscule connaissaient un énorme succès international. Il peint également les effets du temps, les saisons, et surtout la nuit tombante en automne avec les effets de pluie.
