Lot Essay

Throughout her life Frink produced drawings, although often of the same subjects they were completely independent from her sculptures. Her earliest drawings, produced when she was a student show horses or men with horses, obliquely derived from Dürer's large woodcut of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (see E. Lucie-Smith, Elisabeth Sculpture since 1984 and drawings, London, 1994, pp. 91-92).
