An ivory carving of Guanyin, 19th Century
the seated figure with one foot curled under the other, with a calm and serene expression, wearing a lose flowing robe, her hair pinned under a cowl, holding a scroll in her lap - 3½in. (8.9cm) high, wood stand; and a rectangular ivory plaque incised with families living aboard boats in a landscape setting, minute calligraphy to the top corner, supported on a finely carved wood stand depicting a phoenix amongst scrolling clouds.
