possibly English, mid-19th century, later struck with two French post-1864 import marks for gold
Tapering reddish brown agate box, the body boldly carved with a boy pulling a goat's horn, surrounded by grapes, the circular hinged lid of the snuff-box base applied with a pierced gold cagework depicting two putti, the scent-bottle top set with a scrolling gold stopper attached to the base with a gold chain fixed to a scrolling gold mount adorned with a white taille d'épargne enamel band inscribed 'Pensez à moi'
