In addition to his tripartite halo Christ bearing a crown, the latter in combination with the cruciform pallium and the sakkos (instead of his usual himation) corresponding to his appearance as the 'High Priest', his open Gospel Book displaying the verse from John 18:36: 'My Kingdom is not of this world', seated on an elaborately carved marble throne with high rounded back, supplemented by a red cushion, painted with sombre colours, mostly reds and blues, against a bright gold background, skilfully executed in the distinctive Athonite style, with his title 'The King of the Kings' inscribed in gold on blue friezes, and his initials in roundels decorated foliate motifs, the latter typically encountered on icons from Mount Athos
