Engraved map, 293 x 368 mm platemark (329 x 384 mm sheet). (Four closed tears affecting a few letters, a few pale stains.)
Derivative 3 of Smith's Virginia, published in De Bry's Dreyzehender Theil Americae, Frankfurt, 1628. This derivative was copied from state 6 and is somewhat simplified in details and style of engraving. The Smith view of Powhatan is in the upper left. Coolie Verner in Tooley, The Mapping of America, chapter 4. "The last parts of de Bry's work are very rare and often lack the maps. It appeared in the Latin edition of 1634 that united the thirteenth and fourteenth parts of the German one" (Burden 219).
