Lot Essay

James Bond goes to St.Petersburg and meets up with his CIA contact, Jack Wade, in order to find out the whereabouts of the head of the Janus organisation. The only way to find him is via ex-KGB agent and arms dealer Valentin Zukovsky. A previous encounter between the two left Zukovsky with a limp and so, taking no chances, Zukovsky's henchmen disarm Bond. During their encounter, Bond comments on the singer on stage behind Zukovsky...."Who'strangling the cat?"....Zukovsky looks round and then fires into the chair between Bond's legs before replying..."That is Irina, my mistress".
