BOX: three-tier with quarter-round brass edging, brass stringing to top lid and front, external brass drop handles; brass bowl and gimbal, bezel with flat glass; box key
DIAL: silvered and signed Thomas Mercer/ST ALBANS, ENGLAND and with retail signature Meister Zurich, subsidiary up/down dial 0-8 (at XII) and seconds dial at VI, within it the serial number 1180N, all hands of blued steel
MOVEMENT: main frame assembly for fusee and chain, barrel and centre wheel, sub-frame assembly with remainder of train, escapement and balance, both numbered H0811, maintaining power
ESCAPEMENT: Earnshaw type, Mercer format flat steel spring detent with side-mounted jewelled locking stone to the side of banking block, two-armed bimetallic balance with cylindrical heat compensation weights, helical palladium balance spring; tipsy key, original certificate
