A PAIR OF GERMAN FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS BY I.I.BEHR

With swamped etched twist barrels formed in two stages with turned girdles, the breeches each decorated with the figure of Diana inlaid in silver together with a stag and hound and on a platform supported by silver scrollwork, silver 'spider' fore-sights, engraved barrel tangs, signed bevelled locks engraved with scrollwork within matted contrasting panels, carved moulded figured walnut full stocks (one pommel with early patched repairs), full gilt-brass mounts cast in low relief, including large pommels each decorated with a demon mask and pierced side-plates each involving a winged serpent, gilt-brass escutcheons incorporating a coronet and carrying differing portrait busts, and each with brass-capped ramrod (one pistol restocked, evidently within its early working life).
