A SCOTTISH ALL-STEEL FLINTLOCK BELT PISTOL BY ALEXANDER CAMPBELL Circa 1750
With four-stage barrel with engraved flared octagonal muzzle, fluted breech and finely engraved with panels of characteristic scrollwork over the median, signed engraved bevelled lock, the top jaw and the steel each cut with facets, the stock finely engraved en suite with the barrel, inlaid with three engraved narrow silver panels beneath and with a complex pattern of silver interlace over the spine, a pair of silver ovals, one inscribed with the owner's monogram 'J M C D' and the other engraved with the owner's crest, silver pricker and button trigger each pricked and engraved with a flowerhead, pierced engraved belt hook, original ramrod, and in fine condition throughout (the cock with small crack).
