A FINE PAIR OF FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS-PISTOLS BY J.PROBIN
Circa 1785-90
With brass barrels formed in two stages with engraved moulded girdles, a band of beadwork engraved over the breeches and moulded belled muzzles with spring-bayonets above, engraved iron barrel tangs, signed brass locks with bevelled edges, stepped tails and engraved safety- catches, figured walnut full-stocks, swelling flat-sided butts, engraved brass mounts including bevelled solid side-plates decorated with a small trophy-of-arms, trigger-guards with pineapple finial, and horn-tipped wooden ramrods.
