A COMPOSITE GERMAN RAPIER
Partly early 17th Century
With later slender tapering blade, iron hilt comprising a pair of quillons with engraved spatulate terminals, basket-guard of interlaced bars decorated all of square section with incised mouldings at the median points, engraved cone-shaped hexagonal pommel (associated) and wooden grip bound with leather over cord (replaced).
