A SAXON HEMI-SPHERICAL WOODEN PRIMING-FLASK
Circa 1590
Blackened, with turned inner-face, the outer-face stamped in imitation of rough staghorn and inset with a silver roundel etched with a strapwork pattern filled with foliage, fitted with iron top and nozzle etched with small panels of scrolls on a blackened granular ground, the cut-off en suite, and retaining two etched rings for suspension (one missing).
