AN INDIAN IRON HELMET (TÔP)
18th Century
With domed skull decorated with radiating rows of small gilt stripes and encased in a cage of gilt-iron bars radiating from a central boss fitted with spike, fitted with plume-holders and large sliding nasal-bar all decorated with gilt stylised flowerheads, the latter with flat disc terminal decorated with a gilt geometric device, and with earlier two-part aventail of rivetted and butted rings (holes).
