The bell top case with small brass handles, fluted pilasters to all angles, arched glazed side panels, on stepped and moulded plinth with bracket feet, the cut-away brass dial with Indian mask spandrels to Roman and Arabic chapter ring, mated centre with scroll engraving and with alarm-setting disc, original steel minute hand, later hour hand, silvered discs above for Alarum/Strike, signature J. Preston/PRESCOT and Strike/Silent, the eight day twin wire fusee movement with anchor escapement and strike on vertical bell, the back plate engraved with a Chronos figure and secured to the base board with replaced brass brackets, adaptations to dial, lacking repeat and alarm work -- 22¾ in.
