The three-tier box with bone plaque to middle section inscribed Muirhead & Son/AKERS TO THE ADMIRALTY/90 Buchanan St. Glasgow, bone roundel to lower section, recessed side handles, brass bowl (numbered 7243) and gimbal, 95 mm. diameter silvered Roman dial, with 56-hour up/down ring, signature as on the box and numbered to the centre of the seconds ring 7243, gold hour and minute hands, chain fusee movement with spot-finished plates, maintaining power, Earnshaw-type escapement with steel spring detent, cylindrical compensation weights and blued steel helical balance spring, repeat number to top plate -- 7 in.
