An English mahogany, ebonised and marquetry inlaid longcase clock, late 18th or early 19th Century
The hood with outset ebonised twist columns, conforming half columns flanking the trunk door with urn inlays, with matching decoration to the plinth, the 12 in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with recessed seconds disc and date aperture, blued steel hands, the arch signed on a plaque above the strike/silent ring FRANCIS DUSGATE HOLT, the eight day movement with four (formerly five) pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 84 in. (214 cm.) high
