"In 1972 palish and pink, not nearly as deep and purple as I had expected; fresh, youthful, intensely fragrant aroma; dry, misleadingly light in style, yet firm and with life-enhancing youthful acidity. Not tasted again for another 23 years: fully evolved; a lovely scented varietal nose with touch of meatiness; fairly sweet, medium weight, fragrant, dry finish. Just astonishing how these great DRCs can be so disarming, often misleading, teasing, until--like the last stretch of the fairground roller coaster--they glide effortlessly on to the last stretch.
