An extremelly fine exhibition standard model of a Stuart "Major" single cylinder centre pillar beam engine,
built by H. A. Taylor, 1968, with cylinder 1¾in. bore x 3¾in. stroke, draincock and pipe, cylinder head lubricator, studded stuffing box with wasted neck ring, lift-off eccentric rod, delicate parallel motion with barrelled anchor and radius links, decorative drop links with jibbed and cottered bearings, pedestal main bearings with oil cups, barrelled pump rod, barrelled, fluted connecting rod with jibbed and cottered big and little ends, webbed crank, gear driven Watt-type governor with linkage and butterfly valve, main stop valve, spoked flywheel and other details, finished in grey and polished stainless steel and cast iron and mounted on a simulated stone bed containing 240v. A.C. motor and 14sec. delay switch with multi-rope drive to crankshaft, wood base -- 56 x 74cm. (22 x 29¼in.)
