A finely engineered model single cylinder four piller overcrank stationary engine,
built by J. H. Clarke, with cylinder 1¼in. bore x 3in. stroke, inward facing valve chest, inlet pipe with main stop and governor valves, cylinder draincock, forked connecting rod with gibbed and cottered big and little ends, waisted crank, the crankshaft mounted in trunnions with split brasses, the entablature raised on four tapered, turned columns with gear driven Watt-type governor, floor mounted eccentric driven feed pump, belt pulley and spoked flywheel, finished in green, red and polished brightwork with brass plate engraved "N.78 H Goodfellow Hyde 1851 built by J.C. Clarke Brighton", wood plinth -- 73.5 x 34.8cm. (29 x 13¾in.).
