Lot Essay

Born in London, Hammond studied art at the Lambeth School, 1879 and then at the Royal Academy Schools, 1885, where she received sketching and decorative design awards. She worked in both oil and watercolour and as a book illustrator and was a talented draughtsman of female figures.
