Lot Essay

Anna was the daughter of the renowned neo-classicist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1836-1912). She established herself as an artist in her own right, exhibiting at the Royal Academy 1885-1903, Grosvenor Gallery and elsewhere. The Idler's Harvest is characteristically delicate and atmospheric.
