Lot Essay

Waterlow was a painter in oil and watercolour. He entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1872 and won the Tudor Gold Medal in 1873. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1872 and works by him are in Tate Britain, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle. Christie's held his studio sale on 6 January 1920.
