and a similar one of the Madonna after Carlo Dolci; a Magdalen; and 'Tragedy' after Jean-Baptiste Greuze, all by the same hand, all signed, inscribed and dated 1819 on the backing cards and of similar measurements (4)

Lot Essay

The original by Reni is in the Louvre (on canvas, oval, 62 x 48 cm, executed in 1639/40)

H.J. Harding is recorded as a miniaturist and copyist of portraits in London in the 1820's (see D. Foskett, A Dictionary of British Miniature Painters, 19.., I, p. 308)
