TWO JAPANESE IVORY OKIMONO, CIRCA 1900
the first carved in the form of Zochoten, one of the four Shitenno of the four cardinal directions, depicted holding his main attribute, a sword in his right hand and a ream of cord in his left, seated atop rockwork with two attendants below, signed to the base -- 5 3/4in. (14.7cm.); the second is carved in the form of the multi-armed Kujaku Myo-o, 'The Wise Peacock King' seated in the Bodhisat pose on the back of a standing peacock, a jewel in one hand and a lotus stalk in the other -- signature to the base in a red lacquer tablet -- 5 3/4in.
