Designed as a bird cage containing a long-tailed cockerel designed in gold, silver and red togidashi and gold and red hiramaki-e against a roiro-nuri ground, the bottom of the cage decorated with a panel of inlaid crushed shell with gold-lacquer vines and chrysanthemums, cord runners silver with black-lacquer bands, interiors nashiji; fitted with an ivory ojime of a rooster and chick and an ivory netsuke of a roosting hen
