The long faceted blade with raised median gilded except for the edges below a diamond-shaped guard gilded on the sides, the slender, columnar handle encircled by two flanges below the flared circular pommel which is gilded on the underside, some pale green encrustation

A sword of this type, dated early Warring States period, illustrated in Zhongguo Qingtongqi Quanji - Dong Zhou, vol. 11, Beijing, 1995, pp. 96-7, no. 101, has what looks to be a partially gilded blade and a hilt of similar form wrapped with cords, showing that hilts of this type were originally wrapped.
