A Chinese carved ivory wrist rest, 19th century
the front carved with a lady in a boat picking a lotus pod by a river bank with a thatched pavilion and a pagoda amidst plantain, pine and bamboo in a mountainous landscape, the reverse deeply carved with mounted warriors and footmen armed with spears and banners engaged in battle before a fortress, above a dignitary seated to a table watching male dancers and served by an attendant -- 9 11/16in. (24.6cm.) high.
