A GEORGE III PROVINCIAL SILVER RACING CUP & COVER,
MARK OF JOHN LANGLANDS, NEWCASTLE, 1798,
Of plain, two-handled vase form, on trumpet foot, cover with waisted neck & domed top with knop finial, the handles ribbed & terminating on the body in leafage, applied on either side with a wreath & inscribed "Northallerton Cup won by Lopcatcher, Oct. 12th, 1798", and "George Baker, John Wetherell Esqrs., Stewards", in fitted wooden box with trade label of R. Garrard & Brothers, London, 20 in. high (51 cm.), 102 oz.
