Both collectors were knowledgeable about Egyptian art and hieroglyphs, being close friends with the Egyptologist Dr. Ferdinand Debono and acquainted with Howard Carter who presented them with his annotated diary.

A LARGE EGYPTIAN POTTERY BARREL-SHAPED STORAGE JAR
CIRCA 1ST-4TH CENTURY A.D.
With two handles on the shoulder, with mount, 20½ in. (52 cm.) high; three Roman corrugated pottery amphorae, circa 1st-6th Century A.D., 19½ in. (49.5 cm.) high max.; another two pottery amphorae, one with wavy and linear incised pattern, 12¼ in. (31.5 cm.) high max; a Nubian painted pottery jar, with frieze of birds around the shoulder, red and brown painted wavy, hatched bands, stylized plants emerging from the base, circa 3rd-5th Century A.D., 8¾ in. (22.2 cm.) high; and an Egyptian style wood tripod stand, comprising three was-sceptres (Seth-headed animal), early 20th Century, 60¾ in. (154.3 cm.) high (8)

In the collection of the present owner's grandfather, Jakob Koller, and father, Johan Doorn, who lived in Egypt in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
