Both collectors were knowledgeable about Egyptian art and hieroglyphs, being close friends with the Egyptologist Dr. Ferdinand Debono and acquainted with Howard Carter who presented them with his annotated diary.

A MUGHAL IVORY INLAID WOOD CHEST, LATE 17TH CENTURY
Of rectangular form, the front opening down to reveal six drawers each with ivory knobs, the front, back and sides each with a central panel of large inlaid ivory flowers within a border of a meandering vine, ivory stinging along edges, chequered and zigzag borders, the top with later 19th century panel with Persian scene, the interior of the door plain, the front of the drawers each with ivory panels engraved with floral designs - 15 5/8 x 12 x 10in. (40 x 30.5 x 25.3cm.)

The Doorn-Koller Collection, formed in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
