A QAJAR DAMASCENED AND ENGRAVED EWER AND BASIN, IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
The ewer on a spreading foot, with bulbous body rising to a slender waist and flaring mouth, domed cover rising to a pointed lid, spout with bulbous end and dragon headed handle, decorated either side to body with cartouche engraved with flowers, handle with engraved and danascened scrolling vine; the basin of squat form with flared rim, the rim decorated with a series of split palmette motifs on a floral and damascened ground, with pierced insert - 18 1/4in. (47cm.) high (2)
