"A classic Corton nose of game, leather, mature dark berry fruit, spice, earth and the initial hints of sous bois that are followed by wonderfully complex, rich, warm and velvety full-bodied flavors that culminate in a long and only moderately structured finish. While the famous '76 tannins are not absent, they are actually remarkably fine, not only for the vintage but for Corton and I quite like the balance here. This is a terrific wine on any basis but particularly so in the context of so many failed '76s and one that will continue to improve in this format." BH, May 31, 2005
