Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial and applied gold numerals in 1946 and its subsequent sale on 23 December 1947. It has never been offered in public before.

Production of the famous Calatrava model with reference 96 was launched in 1932. In 1972 it was replaced by reference 3796.

Gay Frères, located in Geneva, specialized in manufacturing jewelry but were also renowned for supplying high quality accessories such as wristwatch bracelets and chains to Switzerland's most prestigious watch companies.
