Patek Philippe 18K pink gold split second chronograph watches featuring a regulator dial, placing the emphasis on the split second chronograph display as opposed to the traditional time display, are extremely rare.
To our best knowledge, only six split second chronograph watches with regulator dials and hunter cases are known today. Each is thought to differ from the others either by case, the arrangement of the subsidiary dials horizontally or vertically, both hour and minute hand in the small hour dial or, as common for watches with regulator dials, with central minute hand.
It can therefore be assumed that the present watch with its pink gold openface case, vertical register and small hour dial with both minute and hour hands is most probably a unique piece.
Similar examples of split second chronograph watches with regulator dials (one openface with central minute hand, one hunter cased with horizontal subsidiary dials) are illustrated in Patek Philippe by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 190.
