Lot Essay

The engraving is attributed to Hendrik Bagh on the grounds of similarities in style with a signed and dated goblet in the Amsterdams Historisch Museum; see Vreeken, 1998, p. 172 no. 154.
The warships depicted belonged to the Admiralty of Amsterdam.
