A George III 3-inch pocket globe in fishskin case,
A Correct GLOBE with new Discoveries; late 18th/early 19th Century
the sphere made-up of twelve of hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, with pivots at each pole, the equator graduated and labelled Equinoctial Line, the ecliptic is graduated and with sigils of the Zodiac, the prime meridian is labelled Meridian of London, latitude scale along meridian, the trops [sic] of Capricorn and Cancer are delineated and Arctic and Antartic circles, trade winds are depicted through arrows, Captain Cook's tracks are shown, California is a peninsula, Australia is labelled NEW HOLLAND, New Zeeland [sic] is shown, in original fishskin-covered case the interior lined with twelve hand-coloured engraved gores in each half, the ecliptic graduated and with named and depicting the houses of the Zodiac, the tropics and poles delineated, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures
