with single cylinder 2½ x 4½ inch stroke, the slide valve driven via rocking levers by Stephenson's link gear, the piston rod guided by Watts parallel motion fitted with gibs and cotters, cast beam supported on cast entablature, faceted cast connecting rod, with gibbed and cottered big and small ends, the cast centre frame reinforced with wrought iron plate work, on cast bed plate, finished in recent green, grey and red paint work
