AN IMPERIAL MING YELLOW-ENAMELLED DISH
ZHENGDE SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-DIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1506-1521)

Finely potted with rounded sides rising to a flared rim from a tapered ring foot, covered inside and out with an attractive enamel of even, egg-yolk yellow tone, the base with a transparent glaze with a bluish tinge

Several Zhengde-marked yellow-enamelled dishes are known: one illustrated in Monochrome Porcelain - The Complete Collection of Teasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 1999, pl. 41; another one in the Percival David Foundation, illustrated in the Catalogue, Ming and Ch'ing Monochromes, Section 6, no. 597.
